Sunday Sales Start in Unincorporated DeKalb

Decatur Package Store reports strong business.

The Decatur Package Store on Clairmont Road had a good day Sunday -- .

Plenty of customers came to buy booze at the store just outside the Decatur city limits, often just to celebrate the change in the law, said clerk Tyler Nelson.

"About 80 percent of the customers mentioned that in one form or another," Nelson said.

DeKalb County voters approved Sunday sales in the March 6 referendum. Voters in Avondale Estates and Decatur approved Sunday sales in their respective cities in the Nov. 8 election.

The Decatur Package Store won't be open next Sunday, May 13, because it's Mothers Day. It will also be closed these Sundays: May 28 for Memorial Day and June 17 for Father Day.

Sunday is an important church going day but it is not the Sabbath! Check your bible.

Good point. Dictionary.com's first definition says it's the seventh day of the week (Saturday). The second definition says it's Sunday, the first day of the week. That's what I was thinking. I will change it.

Also Saturday in Italian is Sabato, in Spanish it's Sabado. I am just being picky.
