Voting 101 For Tuesday: Presidential Primary, Sunday Sales (Part 2)

Yes, residents of Decatur, Avondale Estates can vote on Sunday Sales in unincorporated DeKalb County.

Voters in Decatur and Avondale Estates can start voting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the state presidential primary and the referendum for Sunday Sales in unincorporated DeKalb County.

The alcohol vote would allow booze to be sold on Sundays in unincorporated DeKalb County between 12:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Every registered voter in DeKalb can vote in the liquor referendum, even if they live in Decatur or Avondale Estates. Those cities approved Sunday sales back in November, but DeKalb County postponed its referendum to coincide with the presidential primary.

In the Republican presidential primary, voters will choose from nine candidates: Michelle Bachman, Newt Gingrich, John Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. Some of the candidates have dropped out of the race but did so too late to be removed from the Gerogia ballot.

In the Democratic presidential primary there's only one candidate, President Barack Obama.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Here's where people living in the city limits of Decatur and Avondale Estates can vote.

Avondale Estates

  • Avondale City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza.

Decatur

  • Clairemont East: First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave.
  • Clairemont West: Lutheran Church of Messiah, 465 Clairemont Ave.
  • Glenwood Precinct: Holy Trinity Parish, 515 E. Ponce de Leon Ave.
  • Oakhurst: Oakhurst Baptist Church, 222 E. Lake Drive.
  • Ponce de Leon: First Christain Church of Decatur, 601 W. Ponce de Leon Ave.
  • Renfroe: Renfroe Middle School, 220 W. College Ave.
  • Winnona Park: Winnona Park Elementary School, 510 Avery St.
