Seniors Moving Into The Oliver House

The 80-unit building is the second of three phases in the renovation of Allen Wilson Homes.

Senior citizens are now moving into the Oliver House, an 80-unit elderly housing community at Allen Wilson Homes.

The Oliver House is an 82,419-square-foot, four-story “Williamsburg Style” building with 72 one-bedroom and eight two‐bedroom apartments, according to the Decatur Housing Authority.

It's named after Henry Oliver, an African-American businessman in Decatur during the 1800s.

The Oliver House is the second phase of a renovation of the Allen Wilson Homes public housing in Decatur. The first phase covered 40 units of family housing at a cost of $5.8 million. The Henry Oliver House cost about $12.4 million. The third phase will renovate 71 units of family housing for about $10 million.
