Post Office Finds Decatur Focus

The city government magazine will finally be mailed out -- 16 days late.

The Postal Service has tracked down the thousands of copies of Decatur Focus, the city government's magazine, that have been missing more than two weeks.

As Patch reported a few days ago, the printer sent 9,000 copies of Decatur Focus to the post office Sept. 8. Normally it takes only days for all to be distributed by mail, but this time most of them seemed to vanish.

Linda Harris, assistant director for community development at Decatur City Hall, sent Patch this email late Friday afternoon.

"The folks at the Post Office called us today to say that the missing Focus issues had been found and were being placed on the carrier routes – some went out today and the others tomorrow.  They have a new system in place whereby they go to the North East Metro station to take advantage of their new machine that is supposed to make delivery more efficient.  Somehow they got lost there.  They were very apologetic and we have worked out a system for the October issue that should alleviate the problem in the future."

If you need a Focus fix right away, it can be read online at the City of Decatur website, along with all the back issues.
