Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers Records Song About Walmart
Protect Downtown Athens presents the song "After Its Gone."
Like the Decatur area, Athens has a controversy over the possible construction of a Walmart.
But Athens has something Decatur doesn't: Patterson Hood, leader of the Drive-By Truckers.
Hood and a band called The Downtown 13 have recorded a song about the effect a Walmart could have on a town, with a video showing scenes from Athens that will look familiar to anybody who has spent time in the home of the University of Georgia.
