Patch Poll: Yes To Sunday Sales

Overwhelming support for Sunday sales of alcohol revealed in Decatur Patch poll.

If Patch readers have anything to do with it, Sunday sales will easily pass in the Nov. 8 referendum.

An unscientific poll showed that 168 readers said they would vote in favor of Sunday sales, five would vote against and one had no opinion. The poll was posted Oct. 19 and taken down Oct. 24

will decide in the referendum if they will authorize the city commissions to allow and regulate Sunday sales of beer, wine and liquor on a retail level.

Two comments were posted on the poll, both brimming with sarcasm:

Finally this ridiculous law is coming to an end. Finally the people of Georgia will be able to vote on this issue instead of politicians deciding to keep it off the ballot. Finally, I will be able to go out and purchase a bottle of wine if I need to on Sunday for dinner. Finally.

It is about time we get away from this "red neck" law that makes the state of Georgia look like a backwards hillbilly state.

If voters approve Sunday sales, the city commissions must still vote in favor before it becomes a reality.
