National Night Out In Avondale

Public safety officers, residents attend event across from city hall.

Avondale Estates residents and public safety officers from around DeKalb County attended the town's first-ever National Night Out on Tuesday in Dewey Brown Memorial Plaza, across the street from city hall.

Batman even made an appearance, driving up in the Batmobile and parking the car to pose for photos.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
