This position is responsible for assisting in the evolution of a “brand” for the City, internal and external communication efforts through a variety of media, marketing and advertising operations, coordinating activities to promote the City of Avondale Estates’ programs and endeavors, and providing marketing support services to all departments of the City, the Board of Mayor and Commissioners (BOMC) and other boards and commissions. This position reports to the City Manager.

The city commission and downtown development authority had talked about hiring such an employee to help promote the city. The city hopes  roadblocks to redevelopment, such as a lawsuit that tied up a lot of downtown property, will be removed soon.

The city is also encouraged because a large Tudor-style building in the middle of town recently changed hands. A ribbon-cutting was held last month.

The new owners say they hope to fill the building with shops and restaurants and turn it into a "neighborhood center."
