High Winds Caused Power Problems

Georgia Power says only about 50 customers in DeKalb without power at 8:30 a.m.

Cold, strong winds that swept across metro Atlanta Monday night caused power outages in Decatur and Avondale Estates.

Georgia Power spokeswoman Carol Boatright said at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday that only about 50 customers in the Decatur area were still without power, mostly in the Austin Drive area. Austin Drive is southeast of Decatur and close to I-285.

She said power flickers that occurred throughout the night probably were caused by branches striking but not breaking power lines.
