Garbage Pickup Changes for Holiday

Decatur City Hall will be closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Avondale Estates City hall will be closed New Year's Day, as will DeKalb County offices.

Garbage service will be changed as local governments observe the New Year's holiday. Here are the garbage pickupschedules, along with schedules for government offices and public schools.

Decatur City Government

City hall closed Monday, Dec. 31; and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Garbage pickup: Service for Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 will be on Jan. 2.

Avondale Estates City Government

City hall closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Garbage pickup: Service for Jan. 1 will be on Jan. 2.

DeKalb County Government

Most offices closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Garbage pickup: No collection Tuesday, Jan. 1. That service will move to Jan. 2 with the regular collection schedule resuming Jan. 3. Yard waste and blue box recycling services will be delayed one day through Jan. 4. No collection Tuesay, Jan. 1.

City Schools of Decatur

Classes resume Thursday, Jan. 3.

DeKalb County Schools

Classes resume Tuesday, Jan. 8.

School administrative offices closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 4.
