Atlanta Vietnam Veterans to Honor Decatur Soldier

The Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association will dedicate this year’s Vietnam Memorial to honor the memory of Private First Class Ted Dennis Britt, U.S. Marines, a native of Decatur and a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School.

At the age of 19, PFC Britt made the ultimate sacrifice for his country during heroic actions on March 30, 1968 at Khe Sanh in the Republic of Vietnam.  For his actions in battle, PFC Britt was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

The event will include a patriotic concert, USMC Color Guard, C-130 Aircraft and UH-1 Huey Helicopter Flyovers, Bag Pipe Serenade, a dedication address given by Harvey "Barney" Barnum, Col, USMC Ret., Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and a folding of the flag ceremony and presentation of the flag to the family.
