Decatur Commission To Discuss 7-Home Subdivision Plan, Rec Center Renovation

Meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in Decatur City Hall.

There’s plenty on the agenda for the Monday night meeting of the Decatur City Commission.

Eden Chase LLC is seeking approval to build a small subdivision at 1004 Clairemont Ave. Howie Turner said he wants to build seven small houses clustered around a common area.

Development of the property, which used to belong to Valley School, has been discussed for several years. The city planning commission recommends approval with conditions.

Benjamin Park and Allison Loudermilk are challenging the city historic commission’s denial for a certificate of appropriateness for a house at 329 McDonough St.

City Manager Peggy Merriss is recommending the city approve a $5.8 million contract with Ward General Contractors for renovations of the

Merriss also recommends changing the sidewalk improvement budget from $491,700 to $566,600 to cover the cost of building traffic calming improvements at South Candler and Dougherty streets and East College Avenue.

The commission will hold a work session at 6:30 p.m. to talk about the recreation center project. The regular meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
