Decatur To Discuss Bike-Pedestrian Plan

City Commission will consider applying for grants for project at Clairemont-Commerce-Church.

The will discuss funding for pedestrian, bicycle and safety improvements for the Clairemont-Commerce-Church area during a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday in city hall.

 The city is applying for grants for the project, which is expected to cost $3.5 million total. The city will be responsible for about $475,000, Deputy City Manager Hugh Saxon said in a memo.

 Saxon also said work probably would not start for about two years.

The improvements are part of the city's Community Transportation Plan.

 The commission will also consider an alcoholic beverage license for Sapori Di Napoli at 314 Church St. The restaurant wants to sell beer and wine. The city staff recommends approval of the application.
