Decatur Police, Municipal Court Moving To Temporary Quarters

The police department is moving so renovation can begin at the Beacon Hill Center.

The Decatur Police Department and Decatur Municipal Court will begin moving equipment, files and offices on Friday so a major renovation can begin on the Beacon Hill Complex at 420 W. Trinity Place.

The department hopes to complete the move by Sunday, March 2. The renovation work is expected to be finished in the spring of 2015.

  • Decatur Municipal Court. Moving to 120 W. Trinity Place, Room 391-B. Phone, 678-553-6655. Go here to pay fines, request background checks, attend court hearings and request court continuances.
  • Decatur police communications center. Moving to 314-C Church St. Phone, 404-373-6551. This location will be open 24 hours a day. Go here to report a crime, submit open records requests, seek information, post a bond, obtain a vehicle release and retrieve property.
  • Decatur police administrative offices and operations division. Moving to 250 E. Ponce de Leon Ave., Room T-130 (the Wells Fargo Building across from the Pure station.) Go here to obtain permits and meet with police officers.

The city plans to renovate the entire Beacon Hill Complex, creating a modern space for the police department as well as room for the administrative offices of the City Schools of Decatur.
