Decatur Commission To Vote On Park Lights

If approved, the city would install new lighting for athletic fields at McKoy and Oakhurst parks.

The Decatur City Commission has a light agenda for the Monday night meeting.

The city staff is recommending a $525,000 budget for the installation of new lighting for the athletic fields at and .

Deputy City Manager Hugh Saxon said the system would be about 15 percent more efficient than the old lights and would result in long-term savings. Some of the old lights are more than 50 years old, he said.

He recommends the contract be awarded to Donald Camp Inc.

  • Vote on new zoning designations for in the area between the Decatur and Avondale Estates city limits.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough St. It will be preceded by a 5:45 dinner session and a 6:45 p.m. work session on  National Citizens Survey results. All meetings are open to the public.

City commission meetings (but not work sessions) are broadcast live on Comcast channel 25. They are rebroadcast at 2 p.m. the Saturday after the meeting.
