Decatur and Avondale Leaders Enroll in Leadership DeKalb

Decatur commissioner and city employees among group in 10-month course.

Leaders from Decatur and Avondale Estates have enrolled in the Leadership DeKalb Class of 2012.

Class members with Decatur and Avondale connections include Patti Garrett; Caroline Wood, chief of staff for the Avondale-Estates resident Susan McCauley, principal of ; Claire Miller, assistant director for Child & Youth Services for Decatur; and Lena Stevens, resource conservation coordinator for Decatur.

Fifty-two leaders from business, education, healthcare, social service agencies and government will meet over 10 months to learn about issues facing DeKalb County and the metro area. They’ll also take part in community volunteer projects.

Leadership DeKalb is celebrating its 25th year of leadership training, community connectivity and development. For a full list of enrollees, go to the Leadership DeKalb website.

Leadership DeKalb’s 25th Anniversary Annual Meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Agnes Scott College, according to the group's website.
