County CEO to Host Town Hall Meetings

Interim DeKalb County CEO Lee May is hosting two town hall meetings designed to offer taxpayers a participatory platform. The meetings are designed to give taxpayers an understanding of the current CEO form of government, as well as various other forms of county government. The discussions are being centered on a “bottom-up” community-based approach.

Dr. Kimberly Nelson, Associate Professor of Public Administration and Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been invited to speak and help facilitate citizen dialogue surrounding the issue. Nelson has completed extensive research on various forms of local government.

May said he believes a broader dialogue must be held that leads to thoughtful explorations of the form of government that is best for the citizens of DeKalb, which includes, but is not limited to a review of the County’s organizational act that provides for the CEO form of government.
