1,499 People Voted Monday in Decatur

More than 100,000 people in DeKalb have already voted early or voted by mail.

Almost 1,500 people walked into the Clark Harrison Building and cast early ballots for the Nov. 6 election on Monday--the first day of early voting in the City of Decatur.

The DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Office webpage said 1,499 people voted Monday in Decatur. The voting in Decatur was quick and easy, normally taking less than five minutes.

As of Monday, 100,422 people in DeKalb have cast ballots--88,688 by early voting and 11,734 by mail. The county has 470,065 registered voters. Three of the polling places have been open for the previous two weeks.

Here's how many people voted Monday at the different polls.

  • 3,977 - DeKalb Voter Registration & Elections Office at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur 30032. This office has special voting facilities for the elderly and disabled.
  • 1,598 - Tucker Recreation Center at 4898 LaVista Road, Tucker 30084.
  • 1,956 - South DeKalb - Community Achievement Center Inc. at 4522 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur 30034.
  • 1,499 - Clark Harrison Building at 330 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., Room A.
  • 1,917 - Chamblee Civic Center, 3540 Broad St., Chamblee 30341.
  • 1,912 - Berean Christian Church Community Center, 2440 Young Road, Stone Mountain 30088.

The polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will close on Friday, Nov. 2. There will be no early voting on Saturday, Nov. 3, or Monday, Nov. 5.
