Decatur police say a woman was robbed at gunpoint early Friday evening in Decatur near the intersection of East Lake Drive and Oakview Road.

According to Sgt. Jennifer Ross, the victim said she was walking from a restaurant to her bicycle when she encountered two males sitting nearby.

One of the men demanded her money, and when she did not comply, he reportedly produced a “large black semi-automatic handgun” and repeated the demand.

The victim tossed her backpack at the men and they fled south on East Lake.

The man with the gun was described as black, in his late 20 to early 30s and standing approximately six feet tall. He was said to have a slim build, a low haircut, and light brown complexion with a round dark beauty mark on his right cheek. He spoke in a raspy voice according to the victim.

The other black male was said to be wearing a dark t-shirt and dark jeans.

The incident remains under investigation.

Damn! My girlfriend and I were down there at about the same time, eating supper at Universal Joint. We saw two police cars, lights flashing pull up across the street and detain some guy. He wasn't young, Marc. Sorry to burst your bubble. He was an OBM.
