Decatur Home Broken Into While Resident At Church

A house on Oakland Street was burglarized last Sunday. A bicycle was taken from a garage on Forkner Drive.

This information comes from Decatur police reports.

Cash missing. A man who lives in the 200 block of Oakland Street said his residence was burglarized May 5 while he attended church.

He left about 9:30 a.m. and returned at 12:15 p.m. to find his master bedroom in disarray. The mattress was flipped over and dresser drawers pulled out. Drawers in his son's room also were open.

Police said entry was made by kicking in the basement door. Listing as missing were $100 cash from the master bedroom and coins from the son's room.

Bike stolen. A resident of the 200 block of Forkner Drive told police May 1 that a 10-speed bicycle apparently had been stolen from the garage. It was last seen April 29. The resident said the garage door was up at one point during that time span. No signs of forced entry were found.
