Streets Blocked After Suspicious Backpack Found at Decatur Municipal Court

DeKalb Bomb Squad called Wednesday afternoon because a backpack was left in the courtroom.

Public safety officers responded in force Wednesday afternoon when suspicious backpack was noticed in Decatur Municipal Court, inside the building that houses the Decatur Police Department on West Trinity.

Decatur police Capt. Scott Richards said the courtroom side of the public safety building was evacuated and the DeKalb Bomb Squad called to investigate. Streets were blocked.

There was nothing dangerous inside the backpack, Richards said. Somebody "evidently left it after court," he said.
