Police: Condition Improves for Bicyclist Hit By Vehicle

A vehicle hit a bicyclist in the 600 block of West Ponce de Leon Avenue and charges are pending, police say.

Investigators have determined that a bicyclist who was hit by a car in the 600 block of West Ponce de Leon Avenue was struck from behind, according to the Decatur Police Department.

Police were called at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the Decatur Police investigation and charges are pending, police said Wednesday.

Police say the bicyclist was struck from behind while attempting to make a left turn onto Waters Street from West Ponce De Leon Avenue. The bicyclist remains in an area hospital. At this point, her injuries do not appear to be life threatening, authorities said.

No further information is being released at this time pending notification of family.
