Pedestrians Robbed at Gunpoint While on The Path on West Howard

Decatur Police are searching for three men who robbed two pedestrians at gunpoint Saturday night. The thieves took a cell phone and a bag.

Decatur Police are searching for three men suspected of robbing two pedestrians Saturday night at gunpoint.

The victim lives in Atlanta and called police after he arrived home to report the robbery, since the thieves took his cell phone.

According to the police, the man and a friend were walking on The Path in the 700 block of West Howard Avenue about 11 p.m. Saturday. They were approached from behind by a red minivan that was traveling westbound, but came to an abrupt stop in the eastbound lane.

Three men got out of the van and one pointed a handgun at the two pedestrians while the other two suspects searched them, according to police. The victim said his cell phone was taken from his pants pocket by one of the suspects and a bag was taken from his friend by another suspect. The three suspects then fled westbound in the van.

The victim went home and later contacted the police about 12:30 a.m. The friend of the victim left the scene and has yet to be located.

The suspects were described as thee black men, two of the suspects were in their 20s, one was about 6 feet tall wearing a red hat; the second was wearing a blue button-up shirt; there were no further details about the third suspect.
