Man Uses Kitchen Knife to Rob Woman

A woman was robbed at her vehicle while in a parking lot in the 100 block of Sycamore.

A man holding a kitchen paring knife robbed a woman as she was sorting through items in her vehicle while in a parking lot in the 100 block of Sycamore Police, according to Decatur Police.

The robbery was reported at 3:46 p.m. on Sunday.

The told police she was in the parking lot organizing items in her vehicle when she was approached from behind by a man who demanded money. The victim handed over the money she had on her and the man then reached into her vehicle and began going through items and took a bag that contained a small amount of money.

The woman told police the suspect was holding a small black-handled kitchen paring-style knife in his right hand. The victim was ordered to walk away while the suspect was going through items in her vehicle. He then threw the woman’s keys over a fence and ran west on East Howard Avenue, police said.

The woman was not injured in the robbery, authorities said.Β

The suspect was described as a black man, dark complexion, about 6 feet tall, slender build, wearing dark clothing and a gray knit cap.
