Man Killed by MARTA Train Ruled Suicide

The Decatur man jumped in front of an eastbound MARTA train during the morning rush hour.

An incident last week where a man was hit and killed by a MARTA train at the Kensington Station near Avondale Estates was ruled a suicide.

The 53-year-old man jumped in the path of an eastbound train to Indian Creek just as it entered the Kensington Station last Thursday, April 14, according to a just released report and MARTA spokeswoman Cara Hodgson.

The incident occurred during the height of rush hour at 8:25 a.m., and trains were delayed for several hours.Β The man, whose name is being withheld due to Patch policy, had lived on Covington Highway in Decatur, not far from the MARTA station.Β
