DeKalb Police Investigate Death On Sycamore Drive

David Johns, 55, died in his house of blunt force trauma.

Residents of Decatur Heights were upset Friday to see police and television crews congregating around 956 Sycamore Drive, a house located just outside the Decatur city limits.

Mekka Parish, DeKalb police spokesmwoman, told WSB-TV that resident David Johns, 55, had been found dead of blunt force trauma.

WSB said there were no signs of forcible entry to the neat, one-story brick house near DeKalb Medical Center.

The investigation is still under way.

Thanks for the link to the Decatur Heights Neighborhood blog. It will be updated as new information is available. This neighborhood borders ours and some of its residents come to meetings at the Church at Decatur Heights. I didn’t know Mr. Johns, but from all reports he was somebody I would have liked to have known. The mystery is why anyone would want to kill him. I hope the DeKalb Police find out who and why soon, and justice is served. I was born in Decatur Heights 2/3 century ago, and can’t remember a murder along Sycamore Drive or any street near it.

This just beaks my heart! I use to work with Dave years ago in Michigan. He used to be my boss and a great friend! He was such a wonderf person! I am just sick about this! He will truly be missed. What a tragedy! My prayers are with his family and all of the other friends Dave had. What a shame:'(
