Both robberies happened on the street during daylight hours.

Witnesses at the Shell Station on Memorial said they saw Clay throw the woman to the ground and assault her as he tried to take her purse. When the witnesses ran out to help the woman, Clay ran across the street to the Exxon Station. When Avondale police approached, he ran away again.

The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but her condition was not known.
