UPDATE: Gas Leak In Avondale Estates Causes Evacuations
Several roads remain closed, while Atlanta Gas Light fixes a gas leak.
A gas leak in Avondale Estates Wednesday has caused the evacuation of several residences on Windsor Terrace and other nearby streets.
Atlanta Gas Light spokeswoman Tami Gerke said the DeKalb Department of Watershed Management crew cut through a gas line on Windstor Terrace at Melford Place near Covington Highway at approximately 1 p.m.
“A crew is on site working to secure the area and shut off the gas,” she said. “We are working to repair the line.”
