Fire Displaces Decatur Residents

No injuries reported in blaze at four-unit apartment building on Sycamore Drive.

The Decatur Fire Department is investigating a blaze that damaged a four-unit apartment building on Sycamore Drive, causing no injuries but displacing all the residents.

Fire Chief Toni Dixon said the fire appeared to start in a utility room of a rear unit at 436 Sycamore Drive. She didn't know the cause.

All four units had heavy smoke damage and one unit had fire damage, she said.

Dixon said the Red Cross was called to help the people who lived in the apartments, but "most residents said they had some place to go."
