Fire Department Hosts Meetings with Special Needs Families

The City of Decatur Fire Department plans to meet with any families of children with special needs or medical issues on Tuesday, May 20.

The City of Decatur Fire Department plans to meet with any families of children with special needs or medical issues on Tuesday, May 20.

Firefighters want to continue responding in the best way possible to care for all families, including those with special needs. The meeting will discuss medical care, large-scale events, and fire scenarios.

In addition, firefighters will educate families about the benefits of creating a safety profile at Smart911.com and will exchange ideas on how to better dispatchers’ response to emergency calls from families with special needs.

The meetings will be held at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station 1, 230 E. Trinity Place.
