Updated: More Details on Fatal Accident in Avondale Estates

Decatur Patch has obtained a copy of the official accident report that occurred Saturday evening in Avondale Estates.

The accident, which occurred at the intersection of Covington Highway and Kensington Road, left two people dead, and involved a DeKalb County police officer.

Avondale Estates police responded to the incident, in which a white Nissan Altima, driven by Cheryl Elaine Blount, collided with a DeKalb police cruiser, driven by Officer Kristina Hambie.

EMS and ambulance personnel arrived at the scene at 10:26 pm. Shelley Amos, whom the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported as being a passenger of Blount, was pronounced dead on the scene by DeKalb's medical examiner office. Blount, the report said, was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
