Decatur School Resource Officer Honored for Excellence

Decatur school resource officer Matt Damico received the Superintendent's Award of Excellence from City Schools of Decatur.

The Decatur Police Department's school resource officer, Matt Damico, has received the Superintendent's Award of Excellence, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer S. Ross.

Nominees are City Schools of Decatur staff members who have a "whatever it takes" attitude in serving students, the school and/or the school system, who demonstrate a commitment to the mission and vision of City Schools of Decatur, who go above and beyond the call of duty and who do more than his or her job requires out of a commitment to excellence.

Damico was presented with the award by schools Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Edwards, along with Decatur Police Chief Mike Booker.
