Decatur Police Investigating Overnight Mail Theft

Residents have reported their mail being found strewn on the ground and in bushes.

Decatur Police are currently investigating four reports of mail theft that occurred during the overnight hours on Oak Lane, Glendale Avenue, Sycamore Street and West Pharr Road.

Complainants have reported their mail being found strewn on the ground and in bushes. In one case, the complainant retrieved their mail this morning and discovered an empty package, which contained a small jewelry item, left behind. At this time, no other items have been reported missing.Β

Please promptly remove mail from your mailbox once it is delivered and if you observe someone walking through your neighborhood going to multiple mailboxes, call police immediately and provide a detailed description of the person, what they are wearing and what direction they are going.

Last month, Decatur police investigated mail theft in the Lenox Place neighborhood.
