Decatur Police: Eddie's Attic, Smith Ace Hardware Burglarized

No arrests have been made in either break-in.

This information comes from Decatur Police Department reports.

Folk club burglarized. The kitchen manager at Eddie's Attic at 515 N. McDonough St. called police about 3 p.m. May 18 and said she arrived to find the bar patio in disarray. The bar had been locked up about 1 a.m. that morning.

The manager said an undetermined amount of alcohol was stolen. The suspects also sprayed a fire extinguisher into a cooler and onto several patio tables.

The manager noted that a nearby building had a ladder that provided access to the patio.

Nothing stolen from store. Police were called to Smith Ace Hardware Store at 601 E. College Ave. about 7 a.m. May 18 by the store manager, who arrived to find the front door broken.

The manager closed up about 7:30 p.m. the day before. Security video showed a man throwing a big rock to break the front door about 3:15 a.m.

The man entered the store and abruptly turned around and left. Nothing was reported missing.
