Decatur Police: 2 Cars Reported Stolen

Police also say a bike was taken from a Third Avenue residence.

Auto theft charges. Police say they'll file charges a man suspected of taking a car from the Boys and Girls Club on East Lake Drive.

A woman who teaches at the club discovered her 1999 Chevrolet Blazer gone the about 8 p.m. Oct. 5. She realized her car key was missing from her keyring and suspected a student who'd been using a computer near her desk.

She telephoned the student's father, who reportedly said his son had a history of stealing cars. The investigating officer talked to the father and he said his son admitted taking the Blazer and told where he'd left it.

Police found the vehicle and all the contents intact.

Taken from parking deck. A man told police Oct. 3 that a 1984 Monte Carlo was stolen from the DeKalb County parking deck. He borrowed the car from a friend to drive to work, parked in the deck about 8 a.m. and discovered it missing about 5 p.m.

Bike stolen. A woman who lives in the 700 block of Third Avenue told police her bicycle was taken from her front porch. The bike, a 2007 Specialized Globe commuter worth about $400, was unsecured and last seen Oct. 3.
