Decatur Man Charged With Concealing Mother's Death

Police had to force their way into a house on Glendale Avenue.

Decatur police issued this information about an arrest made last week on a charge of concealing the death of another. The name of the person arrested was not released.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, the Decatur Police Department received a request to check on the welfare of a resident. The complainant stated she had not been able to contact the elderly resident for several weeks.

The complainant further stated another family member who resides with the person she was concerned about was evasive on the phone as to the whereabouts of the person in question.

Decatur Police officers responded to the residence on Glendale Avenue. Further investigation indicated an emergency situation was present and officers forced entry into the residence. Once inside the residence, they came in contact with a white male who stated his mother was deceased.

Officers located the body of a female inside the residence, in an advanced stage of decomposition. The male was taken into custody and charged with Concealing the Death of Another. The investigation is continuing.
