Avondale's National Night Out Tuesday

This community event starts at 6 p.m. across from Avondale Estates City Hall.

The City of Avondale Estates will hold its second annual National Night Out celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in the Dewey Brown Memorial Plaza, across from City Hall.

National Night Out is "America's Night Out Against Crime." The event will include fun activities, training programs, food and drinks and vendor exhibits.

Everything is designed, in the words of the city, to "heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in Avondale Estates anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that Avondale Estates is organized and fighting back."
