3 Cars, 1 Scooter Stolen in Decatur

Police issued an advisory Wednesday warning residents that car thieves are targeting Hondas and Toyotas.

This information comes from Decatur Police Department reports.

Decatur police are investigating four vehicle thefts that occurred since June 19-23.

Two of the thefts involved a Honda and a Toyota. Decatur police issued an advisory on Wednesday warning residents that thieves are targeting those makes in the DeKalb County area.

Here are the recent auto thefts:

  • June 19: A woman parked her 2005 Toyota Corolla outside her residence in the 100 block of Ridley Lane about noon. At 1:30 p.m. she discovered the vehicle missing. A Toshiba laptop and digital camera were inside the car.
  • June 20: A woman last saw her 2007 Taiwan Golden 303R scooter about 10 p.m. June 19 outside her apartment in the 200 block of Candler Street. She discovered the scooter missing about 7:45 p.m. June 20. She said the scooter was not working at the time.
  • June 22: A woman parked her 1997 Honda Civic about 7 p.m. June 21 outside her apartment in the 200 block of Adair St. When she came out at 8:15 a.m. on June 22, the car was gone.
  • June 23: A man parked his 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier in the 100 block of Jackson Way at 6 pm. June 22. He found it missing at 6:15 a.m. June 23.
