15-Year-Old Burglarized House, Decatur Police Say

Decatur police provided an update on recent burglaries.

This updated information about burglaries in the Winonna Park/South Candler Street/Oakhurst burglaries was provided by Sgt. Jennifer Ross, spokeswoman for the Decatur Police Department.

  • On Friday, July 26, 2013, Decatur Police filed a burglary complaint with DeKalb County Juvenile Court against a 15-year-old male for a burglary that occurred on June 19, 2013 in the 100 block of West Hill Street.   Investigators are still working with DeKalb Police to identify additional suspects and physical evidence is still being examined in the series of related burglaries.  The most recent burglary that appeared to be related to this series occurred on East Lake Drive on July 8, 2013. 
Update on Previously Arrested Burglary Suspect
  • On July 29, 2013, a third burglary charge was filed against 18-year-old Antonio Bernard Harris of DeKalb County for a burglary that occurred on May 27, 2013 in the 1100 block of South Candler Street.  Harris was caught by Decatur officers on June 2, 2013 shortly after a burglary was reported in the 900 block of South Candler Street and later charged with an additional burglary that occurred in the 400 block of East Pharr Road on May 20, 2013.  The additional cases were solved through physical evidence.
