Oakhurst Crossing Guard Dies

Milton Parker's funeral will be at noon Thursday.

Milton Parker of Decatur, 64, a school crossing guard who worked in Oakhurst, died Friday.

Keith Lee, the assistant Decatur police chief, said Mr. Parker had worked about a year as a crossing guard and was well liked by the Oakhurst children and parents.

"He was just one of those good people you work with," Lee said.

Mr. Parker was a retired Sears employee, a veterans of the Vietnam war and a deacon at Lilly Hill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Levett's Funeral Home at 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday, March 22, at Lilly Hill Baptist Church at 344 Robin St., Decatur.

He will buried at 1 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the Veterans' Cemetery at Millegeville.

Mr. Parker is survied by his parents, Q.E. and Juanita Parker of Watley, Ga.; wife Ann Parker of the home; daughter Jocelyn Parker; and brothers Carlton Parker, Gerald Parker, Leon Parker and Glenn Parker.
