EVENT: Sunday, October 6, 2013, 11 a.m.
Columbia Presbyterian Church
711 Columbia Dr., Decatur GA 30030
International Peacemaker German Zarate-Durier from the Presbyterian
Church of Colombia, will preach at Columbia Presbyterian Church on
Sunday, October 6, 2013, at 11 am. He will preach on peace and justice
issues in his home country of Colombia.
During his stay in Atlanta (Friday October 4 - Thursday October 10),
Mr. Zarate-Durier will visit with students and faculty at Candler
School of Theology at Emory University, Agnes Scott College, Georgia
State University, and at the Interdenominational Theological Center,
Atlanta.
He will be a guest on two radio programs on WRFG-FM in Atlanta on
Saturday evening, and will visit El Nazareno Presbyterian Church,
Hapeville, Central Presbyterian Church, Atlanta and the Offices of the
Presbytery of Greater Atlanta.
German is director of the Office of Diaconia (Mission and Service) of
the Presbyterian Church of Colombia, which focuses on church
development and the promotion of human rights. He works with social
justice organizations, especially those devoted to victims of
violence, and with the Presbyterian Accompaniment Program for Peace.
Arranged through the denominational offices of the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.) in Louisville, Kentucky, the International Peacemakers
Program has been in existence since prior to 1988. International
Peacemakers are leaders who are engaged in peacemaking in their own
areas of the world. They are invited by the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.) to visit with Presbyterians in the United States and to help
us understand the peace and justice concerns of others around the
world. This sharing translates into a better understanding of the
peace and justice issues in our own communities.
German Zarate-Durier may be available for media interviews.
