Why You Should Adopt from a Shelter and DeKalb Animal Services Pets of the Week

LifeLine Animal Project recently took over the management of DeKalb Animal Services (DAS), and we want everyone to know about the great animals available for adoption at the shelter!  We have dogs and cats that are every size, breed and age imaginable, along with a knowledgeable, caring staff to assist you.  But why should you adopt from our facility instead of a breeder or pet store?  Here are a few good reasons.

1. You’ll be saving A Life

Adopt from the shelter, and not only will you be saving the life of a wonderful animal, but you’ll also be freeing up space for another homeless pet.

2. The Variety of Pets is Unmatched

Unlike breeders who only have one breed of dog or cat, we have so many different kinds of animals that you can pick the perfect one for your family and situation.

3. You Will Save Money

Adopting a pet from an animal shelter costs much less than buying a pet at a pet store or from a breeder. In addition, animals from our shelter are already spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, so you don’t have to pay for that either

If your heart is set on a purebred dog, we have them too.  You can visit our website at www.dekalbanimalservices.com to see if we have the animal you’re looking for.

4. You Can Choose a Pet of Any Age

If you don’t have time for a puppy or kitten, we have many adult pets who are already potty trained and know basic commands.

5. You’ll be Part of the Solution

Atlanta has a serious pet overpopulation problem with way too many animals ending up at shelters.  By adopting, you’ll be part of the solution.

Now that you know why you should adopt, why not adopt one of the following dogs?

DeKalb Animal Services Pets of the Week

Outgoing Artemis
Artemis is an adorable six-month-old Jack Russell mix who has an adorable personality to match.  This playful and outgoing boy likes children and other dogs, and would make a great pet for anyone who wants a small, friendly dog.  Artemis is neutered, has had his shots and is microchipped.  All he needs now is you!

Loving Kimchi

Kimchi is a super nice six-month-old terrier mix who loves belly rubs.  This smart guy can already sit and lie down on command and gets along well with everyone!  He would make a great pet for anyone who wants a sweet, loving medium size dog.  Kimchi is also neutered, has had his shots and is microchipped.

If you’d like to adopt either of these wonderful dogs, please email the DAS Adoption Team at: adoption@dekalbanimalservices.com.
