Ready for a Fun Weekend? Attend a Festival and Meet the Dogs of DeKalb Animal Services!

It’s a busy weekend for DeKalb Animal Services (DCAS) dogs, and you can come out and meet them at two festivals this weekend.  On Saturday, October 19, from noon to 4 p.m., they’ll be at the DeKalb International Food and Music Festival at Northlake Mall.  In addition to the DCAS dogs, this festival will offer multi-cultural cuisine and entertainment from across the world.

And on Sunday, October 20, from noon to 4 p.m., DCAS will be at East Atlanta Village Farmer’s Market for DogtoberFest.  Don’t miss the dog costumer contests, food trucks, pet-friendly vendors and training tips.  This family-friendly event benefits LifeLine Animal Project and Southern Animal Rescue.

Also, don’t forget that DCAS is still running their ‘Shelter Classics’ special, where any animal that has been at the shelter for more than a month is only $20 and more than two months is absolutely FREE, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip and more!!!  Adoption screening criteria still applies.

Pets of the Week:  Lavonia and Cactus

One of the amazing dogs that you can adopt for FREE is Lavonia, an adorable Lab mix.  This sweet girl is super friendly and loves everyone.  She is also playful and is a pretty good ball catcher.  Lavonia gets along well with other dogs and would be a positive addition to anyone’s home!

Our cat of the week is Cactus, a beautiful little girl with a bob tail. Cactus is two-years-old and extremely affectionate and laid back.  She is so sweet that you’d never know she came in as part of a neglect case.  If you’re looking for a calm beauty, then Cactus is the girl for you!
