Dogs Understand Human Point of View and DeKalb County Pet of the Week: Miss Piggy
Are you in need of a friend who is a great listener and understands your perspective? Then adopt a dog! According to a new study in the Animal Cognition Journal, dogs can understand the human point of view more than researchers ever thought. The experiment involved 84 dogs who each sat next to their human in a room. Some treats were then placed beside the dog, and the dog was made to understand that it wasn’t allowed to eat the treats. All of the dogs obeyed -- until the light was turned off. With the light off, dogs were four times more likely to steal treats. Researchers say the study demonstrates that dogs understand that humans can’t see their naughty behavior in the dark, which may mean they understand the human perspective.
Pet of the Week: Miss Piggy
Our Pet of the Week from DeKalb Animal Services is sure to understand you! Miss Piggy is a super cute, chunky girl who snorts like a pig. She weighs about 45 lbs, and is very friendly and outgoing. She also loves to play ball and cuddle. Although Miss Piggy has never been through any obedience training, the generous folks at Second Life Thrift Store will sponsor a $250 training package for her at Frogs to Dogs Training once she is adopted! This attention hound wants to be your only girl, so she’ll need a home without other pets. Miss Piggy has been spayed, microchipped and has had all her vaccines.
