After Christmas, Recycle Your Tree in Avondale Estates' Chipper Program

Avondale Estates is reminding residents to recycle their Christmas trees by placing them on the curb from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Jan. 4.

The Chipper Program involves hundreds of Georgia communities and thousands of volunteers, including Avondale Estates.

Since its inception, more than 6 million Christmas trees have been recycled and diverted from landfills.

Last year 106,825 trees were collected in total, of these:

  • 97,708 were recycled into mulch for playgrounds, city and county landscaping projects, and individual homes
  • 7,227 trees were sunk into lakes across the state to provide fish habitats
  • 1,890 were used for fuel or other uses.
Avondale Estates is reminding residents to recycle their Christmas trees by placing them on the curb from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Jan. 4.

After Jan. 4, trees should be brought to the lake to the old compost area near Wiltshire Drive and Berkeley Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (There will be signs posted at the lake drop-off location.)
