Team Decatur Kick Off

The city-sponsored fitness program kicks off Tuesday at Harmony Park.

You've probably seen people in neon green T-shirts walking and running around town.

They're members of Team Decatur, a city-sponsored group that works out together and .

The official Team Decatur eight-week training program starts Tuesday, July 24, and everybody in town is invited to participate. Team Decatur provided these details.

Join Decatur Active Living and Kaiser Permanente for the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk 5k Kick-off event on July 24 from 6-8pm at Harmony Park in Oakhurst. The event launches the “Get Active” program, which includes a free eight-week fitness plan.


Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd will give the official  welcome and Olympian Jeff Galloway will speak about the benefits of being healthy and active. (Note: Galloway will be there 5-6 p.m.)

Visit the Health and Fitness Expo to learn about nutrition, maintaining an active lifestyle and more. There will be information on how to sign up for the KP Corporate Run/Walk 5k, scheduled for Thursday, September 13, as well as information on free training runs and walks around the city for Team Decatur members. Participate in fitness activities including Jazzercise and African Dancing!

Ride your bike to the event and have it registered with the Decatur Police Department.

Team Decatur is supported by DeKalb Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk and Fitness Program, the Decatur Business Association, Courtyard by Marriott, Adams Realtors, Dynamo Swim Club, DeKalb Convention and Visitors Bureau, One Step at a Time,  CORE Body Decatur, UJoint, Vision Properties and other local businesses.
