Olympic Heroes Honored Thursday on Decatur Square

A celebration for Olympic medalists DeeDee Trotter and Angelo Taylor will start at 6 p.m.

Many great athletes come from Decatur and DeKalb County. Two of the greatest are DeeDee Trotter and Angelo Taylor, who won medals recently at the Summer Olympics in London.

To honor them, DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis and the DeKalb Commissioners are holding an “Olympic Tribute & Celebration” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, on the Court Square in Decatur.

Here's what the county government has to say about the event.

“They are truly the world’s – and DeKalb County’s – Olympic Champions,” stated CEO Ellis.  “We are very pleased to have this opportunity to invite everyone in DeKalb County to meet and greet our Olympic champions.”

There is no charge to attend, and there is no charge for parking.  All are welcome.

“We encourage everyone to please join us and show your support of DeKalb County’s own Olympic Medalists, DeeDee Trotter and Angelo Taylor,” CEO Ellis concluded.
