Get Ready For The Fourth of July

Decatur and Avondale Estates will hold parades that morning, fireworks at night.

The Fourth of July is less than a month away, and you need to prepare if you want to join the parades in Decatur and Avondale Estates.

In Decatur, anyone may take part. If you're driving a vehicle you must register by completing the city's July 4th Pied Piper Parade Guidelines form.

The parade line-up is at the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and ends at the Community Bandstand  with a presentation of colors and the Star Spangled Banner.

A concert by the Callanwolde Concert Band begins at 7 p.m. at the bandstand. Fireworks begin at dark and are shot from the top of the DeKalb County parking deck.

For information call 404-371-8386 or email Katie.Abel@decaturga.com. For 24-hour information call the Decatur Events Hotline, 404-371-8262.

In Avondale Estates, the parade lineup starts at 9:15 a.m. at Avondale High. The parade begins at 10 a.m.

That night, the Atlanta Blue Notes will perform at Lake Avondale. Fireworks will be shot off at dark at the lake.
