GoFundMe Thursday: Christmas for Every Child

In this season of giving, we're spotlighting local online fundraising efforts.

Thanksgiving ushers in the season of reflection and appreciation for all that we have.

It also is a time for acknowledging that not everyone has the advantages many of us take for granted, particularly those in need.

It's in that spirit that Decatur's Elizabeth Liversidge and her daughters collect toys, food and money to give the neediest kids a Christmas they can enjoy.

"Our goal every year is for each child to have one small item to open on Christmas morning and help provide meals for families that go with very little during the holiday break because their children no longer receive school lunches and snacks during this time," Liversidge wrote on her GoFundMe campaign.

"Many of these families are in need of proper winter clothing as well."

This is the fourth year that Liversidge and her daughters, Vivian and Ruby, have done the campaign, which has raised $605 out of a total goal of $700.

Every Thursday, we spotlight a local resident doing something to help his or her neighbor.
