2013 Boy Scout Troop 6 Annual Food Drive for

Decatur-area  Emergency Assistance Ministry (DEAM) - URGENTLY NEEDS FOOD DONATIONS 

Wednesday, December 4th, 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, December 11th, 7:30 p.m. 

*Items can also be brought to the City Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Monday, December 2nd.

The Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry —  DEAM — serves residents in need in Avondale Estates andDecatur. DEAM is in urgent need of donations this year for Holiday distribution. As with past years, the Avondale Estates Boy Scouts is assisting DEAM by collecting food in half the City on Wednesday evening December 4, and in the remaining areas on December 11. The scouts are distributing flyers to each area with the date of collection.

If you wish to donate, please leave non-perishable food items in boxes or bags on your walkway or porch -- and turn on the porch light. Any donations are appreciated.  The Scouts will stop by and pick up donations. The Scouts will not be knocking on any doors.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Scouts will pick up donations starting 7:30 p.m. on: 

  • Berkeley North of Wiltshire
  • Clarendon Avenue
  • Coventry Close
  • Dartmouth Avenue
  • Exeter Road 
  • Fairfield Drive 
  • Kensington Road West of Stratford Road  
  • Kingstone Road  
  • Lakeshore Drive
  • Lakeshore Plaza
  • Lakeview Place
  • South Avondale
  • SussexRoad  
  • Wiltshire Drive West of Lakeshore Drive

The Scouts will collect from the remaining streets on Dec. 11.

  • Canned soups
  • Box cereal
  • Canned green beans
  • Canned corn
  • Canned pork and beans
  • Canned squash/greens
  • Canned carrots
  • Canned tomatoes 
  • Canned spaghetti with meat sauce
  • Canned stews
  • Canned chili
  • Small jelly
  • Peanut butter
  • Rice
  • Canned tuna or chicken
  • Any canned vegetables
